For a Portugal tourist visa appointment, check the VFS Portugal Visa Application Centre in London. Its published residence list includes Greater London, but you must meet the applicable residence and application requirements.
If matching-date notifications would help, Portugal Visa Alerts’ London service can notify you when an appointment is detected. You book through VFS yourself.
Check your route before searching
VFS says applicants must live in a location on the relevant residence list to apply at the London centre. Greater London is included. Applicants in the Portuguese Consulate in London’s jurisdiction submit at the London VFS centre; those in the Manchester jurisdiction use the Manchester or Edinburgh centres. Being closer to a centre, or seeing a date there, does not decide your eligibility.
Compare the London residence list with the Manchester and Edinburgh residence list. The lists use some historical place names, so check your current residence with VFS if the wording is unclear.
For a Schengen application, apply in your country of legal residence and to the country responsible for your trip. Portugal must be the sole destination or the main destination by length or purpose of stay. If no main destination can be established, responsibility rests with the country whose external border you intend to enter first. UK applications normally require a valid passport or travel document and valid UK residence permission. A UK short-stay C visa does not generally qualify someone for a tourist application: acceptance is limited to essential travel and depends on the mission’s assessment.
Turn an empty calendar into a plan
You can check VFS’s official calendar yourself or use matching notifications as an additional way to spot an appointment. The search service starts after confirmed payment. Email notifications are sent when a matching appointment is detected; SMS is available where enabled, supported and possible, but carrier delivery is not guaranteed.
A notification does not reserve or hold a date. Book personally through VFS’s official appointment page. There is no guarantee that a notification or booking will arrive in time, so wait for VFS confirmation before making plans around an appointment.
VFS permits Schengen applications up to six months before intended travel. Use that lead time to prepare your application and decide which weekdays you could attend. Having some flexibility can make it easier to consider a date that suits your plans.
Prepare for the Wilson Street visit
The VFS Portugal Visa Application Centre is at 66 Wilson Street, London EC2A 2BT. Its listed submission hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 13:00. Check the centre’s current information and your appointment confirmation before travelling. The centre accepts card payments; cash is accepted only there.
Every applicant, including children and infants, must attend in person with an appointment booked online. A parent or guardian must accompany a minor. The centre lists wheelchair access ramps and accessible lifts, and encourages applicants who need assistance to bring someone to help.
Read VFS’s guidance on what to bring and visa type guidance before assembling your papers. For a general short-stay application, prepare the signed application form, passport and copies, travel and accommodation evidence, insurance, and financial documents. Use the Schengen checklist to check requirements for your circumstances.
Passport guidance calls for at least two blank pages, issue within the previous ten years, and validity for three months after departure from the Schengen area. UK residence evidence can include a digital share code and must remain valid at least one month beyond your return. Bank statements, employer letters and payslips, or a student enrolment letter may also be required, so check their dates against the checklist before your appointment.
Choose your next step
First confirm that your residence and tourist application fit the London route. Then prepare your papers and identify dates you could attend. If a suitable appointment appears, complete the booking with VFS and check its confirmation before arranging your visit.
