Confirm the centre before searching

If the London calendar has no suitable date
Use the official VFS Portugal booking page to manage your appointment search. If no date works, keep checking London rather than changing centres without first confirming your residence jurisdiction. Schengen applications can be submitted up to six months before travel, but that window does not indicate when dates will appear.
The paid search begins after confirmed payment. When it detects a matching appointment, this route sends an email notification; SMS may also be available where enabled, supported and possible, although carrier delivery is not guaranteed. A notification does not hold a date: check that it suits your plans, then complete your own booking with VFS.
Make your application file appointment-ready
Check VFS’s visa category guidance and the relevant checklist before assembling documents. Tourist applications require a completed form and a personal statement explaining the purpose of the Portugal trip. Check the current form and instructions rather than relying on an old saved copy.
For UK residence evidence, VFS accepts a digital share code as well as the listed permit evidence. Its guidance says UK residence must remain valid for at least one month beyond your return date. The passport requirements include two blank pages, issue within the past ten years and validity for three months after departure from the Schengen area.
Organise evidence for the entire itinerary: transport, accommodation, insurance and finances. Accommodation proof should cover the whole stay and show your name, dates and address. If you visit other Schengen countries, include travel between them. Insurance must cover the full stay across the Schengen area, including medical emergencies and repatriation, with at least EUR 30,000 cover.
Some documents need refreshing close to submission. The checklist requests three months of bank statements showing your name and address, with an end balance dated within the month before submission. Plan attendance as well as paperwork
Every applicant, including children and infants, must attend in person with an appointment booked online. The London centre lists submission hours as Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 13:00, and passport collection hours as Monday to Friday, 16:00 to 17:30. Confirm hours and closures on the centre’s page before arranging your visit.
Children must attend with a parent or guardian, not centre staff. The London centre lists credit or debit card payment and says cash is accepted only there.
