The VFS Portugal Visa Application Centre is at 66 Wilson Street, EC2A 2BT, London. Its listed submission hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 13:00. Check the journey and appointment time against work, childcare or other commitments before treating a date as suitable.
VFS lists Greater London among the places whose residents can apply at the London centre. Residence determines the centre: applicants assigned to the Portuguese Consulate in London submit at London, while a separate residence list applies to Manchester and Edinburgh. Confirm your current residence eligibility with VFS if your address or circumstances are unclear.
The London centre accepts credit or debit card payment; cash is accepted only at that centre. Check the centre page before travelling in case its practical details have changed.
Make an empty calendar useful
If no suitable date appears, you can continue checking the official booking page yourself. Paid alerts are optional. Decide in advance which weekdays and times you can attend, and keep a short list of dates that would work around your other plans.

Check that tourist is the right category
The Portugal Tourist category is for leisure travel when you arrange your own accommodation. If you will stay with family or friends in Portugal, check the separate Visitor Family/Friends category instead of assuming the tourist requirements apply.
Portugal must be the responsible Schengen country: usually because it is the only destination or the main destination by length of stay or purpose. If no main destination can be determined, responsibility belongs to the country whose external border you intend to enter first.
Apply in the country where you legally reside. UK submission normally requires a valid passport or travel document and valid UK residence permission. A UK short-stay C visa does not generally qualify someone for tourist travel; acceptance is limited to essential travel and depends on the mission’s assessment.
VFS says applications may be submitted up to six months before travel. This gives you time to prepare, but does not establish when an appointment will become available.
Prepare your application folder
Check your passport: VFS requires at least two blank pages, issue within the last ten years and validity for three months after your planned departure from the Schengen area. UK residence evidence can include a digital share code, and permission must remain valid for at least one month after your return.
Prepare the signed application form, a recent colour photograph and a personal statement explaining your trip’s purpose and itinerary. Travel evidence should cover the journey; accommodation evidence should cover the whole stay and show your name, dates and address.
Travel insurance must cover the full stay and all Schengen countries, including medical emergencies and repatriation, with at least EUR 30,000 cover. Financial evidence includes three months of bank statements showing your name and address, with an end balance dated within the month before submission.
