For a Portugal visa appointment from Buffalo, the currently linked jurisdiction table lists New York state under the VFS Global New York route. The centre is at 128 East 32nd Street, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10016.
If the calendar has no suitable date, Portugal Visa Alerts can monitor for a matching appointment, so you do not need to keep refreshing the booking page.
Confirm the New York route
VFS Global says applicants must book at the Visa Application Centre with jurisdiction over their residence. Its currently linked jurisdiction table assigns Michigan, New York and Connecticut to the New York VFS listing. The table has no visible revision date, so check the official jurisdiction information before booking.
If you reside in New York state, the table assigns your state to this route. Residence near Buffalo alone does not establish eligibility. VFS also requires a valid passport or travel document and valid US residence permit. Holders of a US B1/B2 short-stay visa must apply from their country of residence. Check the official VFS appointment page for the booking process.
When dates are hard to find
If no suitable date appears, keep the official VFS booking channel as your reference for the correct appointment route. A date needs to suit your application and residence jurisdiction, so do not rely on an appointment listing without checking it against the official process.
Portugal Visa Alerts begins searching after payment is confirmed and sends an email when it detects a matching appointment. SMS notifications are available where enabled, supported and possible, but carrier delivery is not guaranteed. You book personally through VFS; a notification does not reserve or hold a slot, and notification or booking speed is not guaranteed.
Use waiting time to prepare
For a short-stay category C application, VFS’s checklist asks for a completed and signed application form, a recent colour photograph measuring 35 by 45 millimetres, and your original passport at the appointment. The passport must remain valid for three months beyond the Schengen stay. The checklist also requests photocopies of previous passports and Schengen visas.
Prepare proof of US residence status, a return-flight reservation, accommodation evidence for the full stay or a statement of responsibility, and travel medical insurance covering emergencies and repatriation. The checklist states minimum insurance cover of EUR 30,000 or USD 50,000. Compare your documents with the short-stay checklist; requirements can depend on your circumstances.
Match evidence to your trip
The checklist requests work and salary evidence and the last three bank statements to show means for your stay and return. If staying with family, provide evidence of the relationship; VFS says housing-condition evidence may also be requested. Business applicants need an invitation identifying the purpose, dates, host organisation and responsible person. VFS says applicants without a business invitation should apply as tourists.
Tourist applications include visits to family or friends. If your purpose is different, use the official visa-type guide to identify the appropriate category. The document list is not exhaustive, and the consulate may request additional items. Keep copies of important documents because submitted items other than the passport and payment receipt are not returned.
Make the appointment count
Portugal visa applications in the United States must be submitted in person at a VFS Visa Application Centre, regardless of category. Bring and show your original passport, prepare the required documents and print your completed application form. Check that it is signed and compare your file with the relevant checklist before travelling to New York.
When you are ready for help monitoring for a matching date, start the New York Portugal appointment alert service. You remain responsible for confirming and booking the appointment through VFS.
